Following a successful career using his sport psychologists' skills, Michael joined Sporting Edge in September 2009 as performance coach/consultant, to work alongside the founder and Managing Director of the company, Jeremy Snape and fellow consultant, Dr. Clive Rees.

Michael Caulfield is one of the country’s most respected sport psychologists and mental skills coaches and has worked in professional sport for 29 years. He is a Registered Practioner with the Psychologist Health and Care Professions Council. A former Chief Executive of the Professional Jockeys Association, he now has worked as a sports psychologist with a range of athletes playing in The Premier League and The Championship, International and First Class cricket, Olympic Athletes preparing for London 2012, European Tour Golf, Horse Racing, Three Day Eventing and Speedway.
He worked with Middlesbrough Football Club in The Premier League from 2006-2009. He has worked with Sussex County Cricket Club since 2005 and The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) from 2008. He also works with individual players in football including such Matt Taylor (Bolton Wanderers), Sam Ricketts (Hull City and Wales) and Richard Wright (Ipswich Town).
Michael uses his sport psychologists' skills with athletes and teams of all levels, including junior and amateur competitors. He will explore all aspects of your preparation and is also qualified to administer the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). The MBTI is the most used questionnaire on identifying people’s type and is proving invaluable in identifying team dynamics and how best to manage individuals.
Michael is also an accomplished writer and broadcaster on professional sport and is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 5, BBC News, Sky Sports and Sky News.
